Which Flexible role is right for you?

Part-time Ready hours
Part-Time Ready
You’ll work a minimum of 4 hours per week, and an average of 4–19 hours per week, depending on warehouse needs.
Reduced-time Ready hours
Reduced-Time Ready
You’ll work between 30–39 hours per week, depending on warehouse needs.

How Flexible Schedules and Shifts Work

1)ㅤ After getting hired, complete the required training shifts your first week.

2) ㅤUse the Amazon mobile app to select available shifts based on business need or site availability. (You must work your minimum required hours per week.)

3) ㅤReceive notifications on your phone about more shifts as they become available, and about “work updates” (e.g. a warehouse being temporarily shut down).

4) ㅤPick up as many shifts as you want until you hit your maximum hours per week. This varies by site, so be sure to ask about it on Day 1.

Three Flexible Shift Types

Day shifts icon
Day Shifts
Depending on the location and department, day shifts typically start between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. and end between 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. local time
Night shifts icon
Night Shifts
Evening and overnight shifts give you your days back. These shifts typically start between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. and end between 5:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. local time – most of these shifts earn more per hour, too.
Early morning icon
Early Morning Shifts
Work early in the morning and get a jump start on your day – most early morning shifts earn more per hour, too. A typical early morning shift starts between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and ends between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Frequently asked questions

Are the benefits the same for all Flexible Schedules and Shifts?

If I’m a Flexible Part-Time Associate, but can’t work my 4 hours any given week due to unforeseen circumstances, will I be penalized?

Associates on a Flexible Schedules and Shifts model are expected to work a minimum number of hours per workweek, which begins on Sunday and ends on Saturday. Hours requirements can be reached by working or using applicable time-off options.

If you don’t meet the minimum hours requirement, 1 point is added to your attendance record at the end of a workweek. If you’re unable to meet the minimum hours requirement, you’ll have one point added to your attendance record. At 8 points, your employment may be re-evaluated.

Part-Time Ready (PTR) employees must reach at least 4 hours per workweek.
 Reduced-Time Ready (RTR) employees must reach at least 30 hours per workweek.
If I want to cancel a shift, how many hours in advance do I need to do that?

When you drop shifts in advance, leaders need adequate time to make that opportunity available for other Associates. So if you drop with at least 16 hours notice, you won’t receive any points. However, if you drop a shift less than 16 hours in advance, you’ll receive 2 points. At 8 points, your employment may be re-evaluated.

Exceptions:
From time to time, unexpected emergencies like illness, injury, or personal events may stop you from dropping a shift 16 or more hours in advance. Amazon provides you paid time off for illness, injury, and other emergencies, as well as Leave of Absence and Accommodation options.
What if I want to work more than the minimum hours for my Flexible role?

You’re encouraged to pick up more shifts at your site if there’s availability. There’s a maximum number of hours you can work, which varies by site. Be sure to ask about this maximum number on your Day 1.

Typically, these are the maximum hours you can work per week, for each role:
• Part-Time Ready: 20–29 hours
• Reduced-Time Ready: 39 hours
Can I switch from Part-Time Flexible to Reduced-Time Flexible after I’ve been hired? Can I even switch to full-time later on?

Yes, associates can transfer from one class to another via the internal transfer process. This is subject to business need and many factors are involved when a site selects which Associates are transferred.
Is the Flexible Schedules and Shifts warehouse program mentioned on this page the same program as the FLEX Delivery Driver program?
