Amazon has launched an initiative to provide more programs, resources, and support for refugee and humanitarian-based immigrant employees. We are committed to welcoming and hiring all kinds of people and offering a variety of jobs and opportunities for everyone to live up to their potential – no matter what their background may be.

The Welcome Door program

The Welcome Door program is available to full-time or part-time regular associates (non-seasonal) at Amazon who are all Humanitarian Based Immigrants (including DACA, asylum, TPS, refugees, and others) and EAD holders. Several benefits and tools include:
  1. Reimbursement for EAD renewal fees, which cost approximately $500 every other year on average
  2. Citizenship Assistance Portal that fully supports US citizenship applications for eligible blue badge employees
  3. Ongoing communications that highlight policy changes that might impact an employee's immigration status
  4. Free legal resources to help navigate immigration-related questions and the ability to connect with immigration experts
  5. Skills-training opportunities, including free college tuition and English as a second language (ESL) proficiency through Amazon's Career Choice program. You can participate in Career Choice opportunities after 90 days of employment for as many years as you work a regular, full-time role at Amazon.

English language and other foundational skills are offered as a part of the Career Choice program. Hourly employees who have been employed full-time or part-time for 90 days are eligible for the Career Choice program, which also includes a variety of other education and upskilling opportunities. Please note that employees should be able to understand and adhere to all job requirement and safety guidelines upon starting employment.
Hourly Opportunities
A social security number is not required to apply or be hired at Amazon. You only need to bring proper I-9 documentation to your pre-hire event.
This depends on the type of role. For example, a Sortation Center Associate may use technologies like computers and smart phones, manage apps, and scan bar codes as part of their overall job responsibilities. Amazon partners with local public transportation agencies to support transportation. For additional support employees can connect directly with their local site leadership team for information on other options.
Yes. Amazon provides reasonable accommodations for any associate’s or applicant's sincerely held religious beliefs which conflict with work in accordance with local, state and federal requirements.
As long as a candidate has the ability to understand and follow the job requirements and safety guidelines, they are generally eligible for employment with Amazon. We are also committed to providing employees with English as a Second Language (ESL) resources through our Career Choice program.
Associates must be able to understand verbal and written direction so they can work safely. Competency does not mean fluency and does not require conversational language skills.
